Muscle scraping is an instrument-assisted form of soft-tissue mobilization. It is helpful for alleviating pain and breaking up scar tissue in previously injured muscle tissues of the body. It is similar to a combination of myofascial release and deep tissue muscle therapy. (Similar treatments are known as Gua Sha, ConnectX and Graston technique.) Active release or pin and stretch techniques may be used alongside muscle scraping for more effective results when needed.
